Getting started & everyday use
Is it really all in my browser?
Yes. Perfect Pedigrees runs in any modern browser on any device — log in from your laptop, tablet or phone. There’s nothing to install, and you can add it to your home screen like an app and use it at a show. If you can use Facebook, you can use Perfect Pedigrees.
Do I have to type all my cats in?
No — there are two ways, and neither is hard. Type them in yourself with a simple step-by-step wizard: start typing a name and autocomplete pulls the known ancestry in from our pool of around 90,000 cats, so you rarely type more than a name or two. Or upload the pedigrees and we’ll do the typing for you — snap a photo or PDF of the parents’ pedigrees and the litter registration from any device, and we build the pedigree for you. No typing.
Can I move my data from Breeders Assistant or Kintraks?
Yes — and migration is free. Send us your export and we’ll bring your cats and pedigrees across for you, or follow our step-by-step guide to do it yourself. Nothing is lost and you don’t re-type a thing. See moving from Breeders Assistant or moving from Kintraks.
Which registries do you support?
GCCF is fully supported now, with correct breed numbers, EMS colour codes and full title ladders. TICA is next, with more registries to follow. Imported a cat from another registry’s line? We show every ancestor exactly as its own registry recorded it — no reformatting.
Can I add my own branding?
Yes. Every certificate carries your cattery logo and a photo of the individual cat or kitten, with titled cats styled automatically. No logo yet? Our logo-design service will create one for you for a small one-off fee.
Printing, pricing & your data
How do I get the finished pedigree — print or posted?
Whichever you prefer. View it on screen for free, download a print-ready PDF and print at home, or let us print it on premium white or cream card and post it to your door — the same trusted Cattylicious fulfilment, now with an order wizard, one-click proof approval and a status page.
What does it cost?
Building pedigrees is free — you pay only when you print. There’s no subscription forced on the occasional buyer. Silver and Gold plans add unlimited printing, more storage and extra modules as they ship. Full detail is on the pricing page.
Is my data private, and who can see it?
Your own pedigrees and records are yours — private to your account, and you decide exactly what appears on each certificate (breeder address and phone are hidden by default, opt-in only; your cattery and breeder name show). Our shared cat database holds names, colours and breed numbers only — never any breeder or owner contact details. Your private records only ever link to the shared pool; nothing is copied into it except through expert curation, and never your contact details.
Are you GDPR-compliant?
Perfect Pedigrees is built to be UK GDPR-compliant: your data is private to you, you own it and can export it at any time, contact details are never put in the shared pool, and sensitive fields are hidden by default. We’re completing our formal data-protection pack (privacy policy, ICO registration and the rest) ahead of full public launch.
Why is your database better than a free import pool?
Because it’s checked, not just collected. Every cat stays in the breeder’s private database until it’s reviewed by a GCCF judge and given a verification level before it ever joins the shared pool. Rival pools are often full of unchecked, duplicated entries; ours is human-curated and expert-verified, so the ancestry you build on is trustworthy.
When can I start?
We’re onboarding founding members in a private beta now. Join the early-access list and we’ll be in touch.
Is it really free to bring my cats across?
Yes — moving your database from Breeders Assistant, Kintraks or a spreadsheet is free, and we’ll do it for you. Building pedigrees is free too; you only pay when you print a certificate.
Will my data be made public?
No — not unless you choose. Everything is private by default. Publishing a pedigree is opt-in and per-cat, and even then we only ever show the cat’s ancestry and titles, never your address or contact details.
What’s the benefit of making a pedigree public?
Findability. People looking for a kitten can see your pedigrees before they enquire, other breeders can test-mate with your cats, and your cattery starts showing up when people search — all of which helps the right homes find you and builds your reputation.
How does test-mating across catteries work?
When you publish a cat, other breeders can trial a pairing with it (and you with theirs) to see the predicted ancestry and diversity before anyone commits to a mating. It’s a planning tool — no contact details are shared.
How is this different from Pawpeds?
Pawpeds is a free online pedigree database with no printing. Perfect Pedigrees gives you the same online value — pedigrees online, test-mating, cross-cattery visibility — plus beautiful printable certificates and your own cattery tools, in one place.
Does anything get added to the shared family tree automatically?
No. Your records stay yours. Nothing joins the shared tree without your explicit say-so.
Pricing & subscriptions
Breeders Assistant and Kintraks were a one-off payment. Why is Perfect Pedigrees a subscription?
Because they’re different kinds of thing. Breeders Assistant and Kintraks are one-off programs you install on a single PC — once you’ve bought them, they sit frozen and unsupported. Perfect Pedigrees is an ongoing service: hosted and backed up for you, kept correct as GCCF and TICA change, supported by a real person, improved with new features, and connected to a growing database of around 90,000 cats. The yearly fee keeps all of that running and getting better. And if you’d rather not subscribe, you don’t have to — build for free and pay £3 only when you print.
Do I have to subscribe at all?
No. The Free plan is free forever — build unlimited pedigrees, run COI checks and trial matings, and pay just £3 when you want to print a certificate. A subscription only makes sense once you’re printing enough that unlimited printing saves you money.
How am I billed — monthly or yearly?
Subscriptions are billed once a year. There’s no monthly tie-in and no long contract — if you don’t renew, your account simply reverts to the Free plan.
If I don’t renew, do I lose my cats and pedigrees?
No. Your account drops back to the Free plan — your cats, pedigrees, photos and history stay exactly where they are. You keep logging in and building; you just move from unlimited printing back to paying £3 per print. Nothing is deleted or locked away.
Can I cancel any time, or am I tied in?
There’s no lock-in contract. Upgrade, downgrade or cancel whenever you like — if you cancel, you keep your current plan until the end of the year you’ve paid for, then revert to Free with all your data intact.
Isn’t a subscription more expensive over time than buying software once?
Only if you ignore what the one-off leaves out. A desktop program pushes the real costs back onto you — a new PC when it won’t run, lost records with no backup, hours of retyping, and no help when you’re stuck. Silver is £49 a year — under £1 a week — including hosting, backups, updates, support and unlimited printing. Occasional breeders skip it entirely and pay £3 per print.
Will the price go up after I join?
Founding members are protected: the first 300 breeders to subscribe lock their rate for life, for as long as they keep renewing continuously — even when standard prices rise later.
Can I get my data out if I leave?
Yes — your private records are always yours, and you can request an export of your own data to take with you.
