Terms of Service

Effective from launch · Last updated 13 June 2026 · Please read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Perfect Pedigrees website and application at perfect-pedigrees.com and app.perfect-pedigrees.com (the “Service”).

Perfect Pedigrees is operated by Icon Media Solutions Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 09140300, registered office 5 Witherbed Lane, Fareham, Hampshire PO15 6RE), trading as “Perfect Pedigrees” (“Perfect Pedigrees”, “we”, “us”, “our”). You can contact us at ross@perfect-pedigrees.com.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You confirm these Terms when you tick the acceptance box at registration.

2. What Perfect Pedigrees is — and is not

Perfect Pedigrees is a breeder database and pedigree-generation tool. It helps you record your cats, build family trees, calculate inbreeding (COI) and diversity figures, and produce pedigree certificates and related products.

Perfect Pedigrees is NOT a cat registry or registering body. We are not the GCCF, TICA, or any other governing body, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Certificates and documents you produce are records generated by you, the breeder, from the data you provide — they are not official registry documents and do not confer or evidence registration with any governing body. The “Produced by Perfect Pedigrees” line and any draft/preview watermark make this clear.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and the pedigrees and documents you produce. We do not independently verify pedigree data, and we give no warranty that any pedigree, registration number, or lineage is accurate or complete.

3. Eligibility and your account

  • The Service is for adult breeders (18+). It is not directed at children.
  • You must provide accurate, current information and keep it up to date.
  • Your account is personal to you and your cattery. You are responsible for everything done under your account.
  • Keep your login credentials confidential and secure. You must notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.
  • We may offer passwordless (“magic link”) login; the same security responsibilities apply.

4. Acceptable Use

These rules protect the integrity of the Service and other breeders. Breaching them is grounds for suspension or termination of your account (see §10). You must not:

  • Share your login credentials with, or allow your account to be used by, any other person.
  • Operate the account on behalf of other catteries. Your cattery prefixes and branded identities (prefix, cattery name, breeder name, logo, contact details) must be ones you are genuinely entitled to use. You must not change or swap your cattery identity, logo, or branding in order to produce pedigrees, certificates, or other products branded for, or on behalf of, another person or cattery. The Service is for documenting your own breeding, not for operating a pedigree-production bureau for third parties.
  • Misrepresent a prefix, cattery, registration, or identity that is not yours.
  • Copy, scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract the shared/curated breeding pool or any part of our database, or attempt to do so by any automated means. The shared pool is provided read-only for use within the Service.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to use (including logos and images), or any unlawful, infringing, or harmful content.
  • Interfere with, probe, or circumvent the security, access controls, usage limits, or payment mechanisms of the Service, or attempt to access another user’s private records.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit access to the Service except as expressly permitted.

We monitor for misuse (for example unusual login patterns, account sharing, or rapid changes of cattery identity/logo) and keep audit records, including a history of uploaded logos and identity changes, to enforce these Terms.

5. Your data, the shared pool, and ownership

  • You own the data you enter (your cats, pedigrees, logo and records). You grant us a licence to host and process it solely to provide the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Your private records are kept in your own private layer. They are not added to the shared/curated pool unless we approve them through our curation process; nothing you enter is promoted to the shared pool automatically.
  • The shared/curated pool, the software, templates, and Perfect Pedigrees brand are ours (or our licensors’) and remain so.
  • Where you record personal data about other people (e.g. kitten buyers), you are the controller and we act as your processor.

6. Pricing, payments and subscriptions

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
  • Pay-per-print: you pay once to unlock the final, watermark-free certificate for a given cat; re-downloads of that certificate are then free. A free watermarked preview is available before you pay so you can check the output.
  • Subscriptions: where offered, subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as shown at checkout, and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Founder rate: if you join on a founder/founding-member rate, you keep that rate for as long as your subscription remains continuously active. If you cancel and later resubscribe, the founder rate may no longer be available.
  • Price changes: we may change prices; for subscriptions we will give reasonable notice and changes apply from your next renewal (existing founder rates are honoured as above).
  • Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP); whether prices include VAT is shown at checkout.

7. Refunds

Certificates and downloads are digital goods supplied immediately. The free watermarked preview lets you check the certificate before paying, so we do not generally offer refunds once a final certificate has been unlocked, except where required by law or where the output is faulty. If a purchased item does not look as it should, use the “Report a problem” option so we can put it right. Your statutory rights are not affected.

8. Availability and changes to the Service

We aim to keep the Service available and accurate but provide it “as is” and on a best-efforts basis. We may add, change, or remove features, and may carry out maintenance that temporarily interrupts access. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

9. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Subject to that:

  • We are not liable for breeding, mating, or commercial decisions you make using the Service, nor for the accuracy of data you or others enter.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of data.
  • Our total liability arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Suspension and termination

  • You may close your account at any time. Closure and data handling are dealt with in the Privacy Policy (we anonymise personal identifiers and retain financial records for the HMRC period).
  • We may suspend or terminate your account — with notice, or immediately for a serious breach — if you breach these Terms, in particular the Acceptable Use rules in §4 (such as sharing login details or operating the account for other people’s catteries), or where we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse.
  • On termination your right to use the Service ends. Suspension/termination blocks access; it does not remove our lawful data obligations or your data-protection rights.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the updated version with a new “last updated” date and, for material changes, notify account holders. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
